FOX News - Politics - Latest Headlines - Disaster in the Gulf: 41 Days and Counting

Yup, you guessed it, the big tough gov't hasn't done squat to help with the oil disaster, nor has it done squat to hold BP or the corrupt insider accountable. Yet, the wildlife and humanity continue to suffer 41 DAYS into this. You know the Haitian disaster got more immediate attention by this administration than this oil spill, oh but that's right you can't throw money at this problem and it will go away. 41 days... Stop supporting BP. Seriously! They don't care about humanity or the environment. Stop supporting this corrupt administration. 41 days!!! Are you kidding me?

They sell satan's blood

Even Home Depot sells satan's blood! This poison is some of the worst stuff ever created by now food giant Monsanto. Do a google search on Monsanto and/or round-up it will make you hurl. And people are spraying this stuff like it's a godsend. Only Satan's blood could do as much damage as this stuff is doing to our environment.

Shame and Yo-Yoing

Excerpt from thesimpledollar.com:

You shouldn't be ashamed of where you start. Guess what? No one is perfect in life. An awful lot of us are overweight. An awful lot of us are in deep debt. An awful lot of us can't play the piano. An awful lot of us can't write computer code. An awful lot of us don't read as much as we ought to. Do not be ashamed of where you're at right now. The big thing is to be proud that you've decided to accept a major goal for yourself and that you're actively working to improve your current state. The past is water under the bridge – we all start from where we're at now, not from where we were at ten years ago when things were "better."

No individual step you take while making a change in your life should be radical. Major changes to how we behave are almost impossible to perfectly implement. Going from spending thousands a month on unnecessary stuff to spending nothing at all will rarely work for more than a week or two. Why? Because whenever you make a major change like that, you're derailing a lot of tiny routines and habits, not just one. Humans are creatures of habit, and derailing even the simplest routine can be hard. Derailing lots of simple routines all at once can be incredibly hard. Make small changes, observe small victories, and be patient. It's far better than yo-yoing, where you make a radical change, see some great success immediately, then fall off the horse and find yourself back where you started.

Sustainability

I have many projects that I've completed recently pushing me more towards individual sustainability. There are still a few more projects I need to complete in order to be at my goal for this point in my life.

1) more good soil for the raised bed gardens
2) wheat mills with steal plates
3) pressure canner + heavy duty propane burner since I have a glasstop stove and cannot do canning on it

What will this accomplish for me? Having more soil will allow me more room to grow fruits/veggies. I might even try my hand at growing some of the ingredients for making beer. The wheat mill will allow me to make homemade bread truly from scratch. That will be crazy delicious. The pressure canner (+propane burner) will allow me to save/store the goods from my garden so I can enjoy in the winter and share with my friends/family.

If you have any suggestions on where to get some of these items let me know. I'd like really sturdy tools so that they will last a lifetime. I also prefer non-electric tools.

Perfect Bacon Beer for Mr. Kelly

Brian, I've never known a more perfect beer recipe for any one person than this home brew bacon beer. I just might have to beak down and brew this for you even if beer is not your favorite.

My Chinese Zodiac says...

I like to say, "HURRY UP!!!" Ha ha! So true. I am very impatient. However I think it should say, "I kneed people".

2010 Police Memorial

This was really neat to see. The bagpipes made the mood. The families of the fallen officers were appreciated. The fly over by the helicopters was well orchestrated.
