Pickling Cucumbers

The first cucumbers out of the garden are GIANT!

Corn Failure

I'm so sad. My corn transplants didn't produce large enough corn to eat. The other plants nearby may chokeout the corn since they were grown from seed and are very strong.

1st Corn

These are the first corn. These are coming from transplants and we're convinced transplants are not the way to go. But there are these tiny ear of corn so I'm happy.

Little Potatoes in the Fancy Potato Box

How cool is this! The little potato plants are getting big! I've never seen a growing potato plant in my life until now. How funny to be over 30 and enjoying the simple things of life like this.

My little peppers

I was wrong to have written them off. I figured germination was over and they just hadn't made the grade in Darwin's survival of the fittest. Boy was I wrong! These 2 little guys survived against all odds: Houston torrential rain storm and weird hot/freezing cold weather + sitting in an inch or more of water. So they must be the fittest and I'm naming them Pedro de Jalapeno and Juan de Pepper. They are sitting on the stove soaking up some fake rays (but I won't tell them, after all they've been through it would just seem cruel). Good luck guys!

My Seeds are ALIVE!!!

This is 4 days of being in the ground from seed. I now understand why my grandparents sat outside watching the grass grow. This is fun. I cannot wait to see them full grown.

Sun Chips Compostable Bag

I fell victim to the "compostable bag" that Sun Chips is touting. This bag is crazy loud. It sounds like sheets of tin on a trailer roof during a tornado. I'm a wee bit weirded out by the metal like material and it ending up in my vegetable garden soil.
